Cycling fines ONCE again the motorist is seen as the fount of all evil (and the source of all money).
The Greens want CCTV to catch more infringements. (The Argus, May 3).
Fine – if something is against the law, so be it.
Now what about making all cyclists pay for and display registration plates on their rear mudguards, and use CCTV to fine every cyclist running red lights, pelican crossings, pedestrian crossings, riding on pavements and cycling the wrong way up one-way streets. This could also be used for those without front or rear lights.
Enforce a £20 fine (peanuts by motoring standards) for each offence. The city would have its annual budget covered in about one month.
