Sussex Police has said it will not reopen the investigation into the murder of Billie-Jo Jenkins.
Billie-Jo, 13, was killed in Hastings in 1997.
She was found lying on the patio of the family home in Lower Park Road, having been battered over the head with a tent peg.
Her foster father Sion Jenkins was cleared of killing her.
Now Billie-Jo's relatives have called for the investigation to be reopened.
Sussex Police said they would not at this stage be investigating.
A spokeswoman said: "In regard to Billie-Jo's death without any new lines of enquiry there are no plans to reopen the investigation.
"As with any such case, we are always keen to hear from anyone who may have some new information which may lead to a new line of enquiry."
