A Brighton and Hove Albion player has been ruled out of a police sex assault inquiry.
Tommy Elphick, 24, was arrested along with four teammates yesterday (Thursday, January 19) morning and questioned by Sussex Police over an alleged attack on a woman in July.
They were all released on bail on last night and at 1.35pm today (January 20) police confirmed Elphick had been “eliminated from the inquiry”.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "The gentleman's co-operation and assistance since his arrest enabled us to quickly establish that he was not of interest to us in this enquiry and he has been advised that no further action will be taken against him."
Lewis Dunk, 20, Ben Sampayo, 19, Anton Rodgers, 18, George Barker, 20, and Steve Cook, 20, who now plays for Bournemouth, all remain on bail until March 21.
