A row which threatened Albion’s expansion plans of the American Express Community Stadium has taken a twist.
Green convenor Bill Randall and Brighton and Hove Albion chief executive Martin Perry issued a joint statement this afternoon during a meeting of the local authority’s cabinet.
It confirmed the minority administration's commitment to The Amex and the club's plans for an extra 8,000 seats at the stadium.
It comes just hours after The Argus featured the story on the front page of today’s paper under the headline “Greens Give Albion Yellow Card”.
The issue relates to a plot of council owned land on the site of the former Falmer High School.
The plot was previously promised to the club and officials had hoped to use it for up to 1,000 car parking spaces on match days.
The club is due to submit a planning application for an extra seats at the £100 million stadium in the coming weeks.
