A jeweller was left shaken after being threatened with a hammer by two masked men.

A male employee at James Ross Jewellers in Station Road, Portslade was involved in a brief struggle with one of the robbers during the raid at around 2pm this afternoon.

The robbers left the store empty-handed and police arrested a 34-year-old man in Victoria Road shortly afterwards.

A search is continuing for the second suspect, who may have made off in a silver hatchback vehicle in Gordon Road, and Sussex Police are keen to speak to a member of the public who may chased the men and taken pictures of them on his mobile phone.
