WITH the news that Noble has put Brighton Pier up for sale (The Argus, June 30), one would hope a condition of sale – perhaps enforced by Brighton and Hove City Council – might be that the proper “Palace Pier” name be restored to the landmark building as a permanent feature.

I CAN remember visiting both the Palace Pier and the West Pier as a child some 60 years ago.
The most important thing is that this historic monument is preserved for future generations.
It doesn’t really matter who buys it, as long as it’s treated with integrity and, above all, the “Brighton Pier” neon signs are replaced with its “Palace Pier” name.
