Sussex Police have spoken of their joy that the Olympic torch is coming to Brighton.
A force spokeswoman said: "Along with everyone in Sussex, we are delighted that the Olympic torch will be passing through the county next summer.
"Over the next 12 months we will be working closely with the two host venues for the evening celebrations.
"We also also be working with the Olympic Intelligence Centre, with the Metropolitan Police who are providing the close protection team for the torch, and with the other forces in the South East, to help ensure a safe, successful and enoyable experience for everyone.
"Arrangements for policing the route, which is still being developed, and for the two evening celebration events, are under discussion and will be announced in due course.
"We will be working closely with our partners in the communities involved."
