I’M RESPONDING to a story in The Argus (May 2) in which a trust is introducing dedicated “comfort rounds” to help a patient’s stay.
The new system is being introduced at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and the Princess Hospital in Haywards Heath.
Nurses and healthcare assistants will visit every patient’s bedside to check they are clean, ready to eat a meal and whether or not they need anything to drink.
I feel that nurses and healthcare assistants already carry out “comfort rounds” – this is not new.
I have worked for the NHS for more than 40 years and my colleagues and I do this all the time.
