Have fun surrounded by 500 lilacs and 35 acres of woodland at Withdean Park’s Lilac Lark Fair on Sunday 8th May from 12.30pm to 5.00pm.
This is the sixth fair that has been held at the park. It is organised by the Friends of Withdean Park, a group formed in 1996 to take care of the lilac collection.
Lilac Lark is also supported by Brighton Lions, part of the International Association of Lion Clubs.
Phillipa Shaw, co-ordinator and chair of Friends of Withdean Park, said that the fair first started to raise people’s awareness of the lilac collection.
Over the years, the fair has grown. Ms Shaw said; “It’s got bigger as it’s become popular.”
Alan Spink of Allsorts Dog Rescue will be running a dog show. Radio DJ Joanne Good will return as one of the judges.
Women’s morris dancing group, Cuckoo’s Nest, will perform from 1.00pm, followed by music, light jazz and acappello singing.
Entry to the fair is free. For more information about the park and the lilac collection, visit the Friend of Withdean Park’s website.
