More job losses have been announced as youth cuts deepen.
West Sussex County Council has announced a further 37 jobs will go in children and young people’s services this year as the authority struggles to make more than £7 million of savings over the next three years.
However there has been a partial u-turn on plans to axe free school transport for children at faith schools. The plan has been amended to continue funding for the poorest students and those currently in year 10, who would be taking their GCSEs when the changes come in this September.
Plans to scrap free travel for students over 16 and to ask for part payment from families of children with special educational needs, are still set to go ahead.
