Kids are invited to get crafty today at Moulsecoomb library to celebrate the Chinese New Year and have some creative fun.
A craft session will be held from 10.30am to midday where children will be able to make their own Chinese lanterns as part of the library's ongoing efforts to bring the local community together.
Library Officer Alison Eyre said: “We're trying to encourage more people to use libraries and to develop links in the community.”
Each month the library will be holding a different event to improve the library's membership with ideas already in place for Easter and spring. Coffee mornings are another way in which Moulsecoomb residents can enjoy the library, held every other Friday with the next one scheduled for Friday 11th February.
With libraries across the UK being threatened with closure, many are going beyond simply lending books in an effort to get more people through the doors. Today has been named Save Our Libraries Day with read-ins and storytelling sessions held at libraries across the UK.
