North Laine Photography Gallery closed today after spending over seven years showcasing spectacular shots of Brighton and Hove.

North Laine Photography Gallery (NLP) had developed a favourable reputation by featuring photos which captured the true essence of Brighton and Hove. Its competitions and exhibitions, funded primarily through sales of an annual calendar, have given both new and established photographers a fantastic outlet for their work.

Kevin Mason, founder of Garage Studios said: “Not only has NLP put on some brilliant exhibitions, they took a real risk with some exhibitors, encouraged and cajoled others to make work worthy of public display. They have even held open-air exhibitions on the beach, way before the Nature Portraits display that was there last year.”

NLP founder, Nigel Swallow, says that he is currently working on a book, based on the expansive exhibitions held at NLP over the years. He plans to produce another calendar – possibly the last – at Christmas and will continue to sell prints through his website: www.brightonphotography.com
