ANOTHER year saw another shining example of biting political satire in a fabulous attack from The Treason Show.
Ably inspired by the Coalition Government, the Pavilion Theatre’s resident comedy group had plenty to get their teeth into: from the land of Liberals to George Osborne as Vatman.
There were some great regular sketches, such as Random News Totty from Fux News, along with original swipes at the usual high-profile suspects including Bob Diamond and Victoria Beckham.
A particularly clever musical sketch gave the song I Predict A Riot by Kaiser Chiefs a new title of Open Prison Riot while showbiz references to The King’s Speech, starring Prince Charles, had the audience in stitches.
Producer Mark Brailsford made his usual nude appearance on screen this time, having handed the show’s direction over to the pert Daniel Beales alongside the imposing Jason Blackwater and the divine Liz Beales.
There were a couple of clever but obscure references that passed some by – Romanian witches anyone? – while a couple of swipes at feral kids from Moulescoomb and Hangleton could have been evened up by targeting some boorish hoorays from Hove.
But these minor points didn’t detract from a bright, witty laugh-a-minute show. Look out for their Royal Wedding Special and book early.
