The official opening of a historic cinema after a £2.2 million refurbishment has been delayed.
Trustees of the Dome cinema on Worthing seafront have postponed the VIP gala opening until November.
Belle Stennett, managing director of Worthing Dome Ltd, said essential drainage work had caused the delays.
She said she hoped to get the listed cinema running again before organising the gala, which will feature a screening of the Oscar Wilde classic The Importance of Being Earnest, written during the 1890s when Wilde was staying in Worthing.
She said the bulk of the work would be completed in the next few weeks.
Contractors are restoring the Dome to its former Edwardian splendour, courtesy of major grants from the Lottery's Heritage Fund and English Heritage.
