Human rights supporters marched 12 miles from the Peace Statue in Hove to the home of radical writer Thomas Paine, in Lewes, to raise money for the Save Omar Deghayes campaign.
More than 20 walkers, including Omar's mother, took part in the sponsored trek. Many wore Justice For Omar T-shirts, highlighting the plight of the 37-year-old from Saltdean who's been imprisoned for four years without charge at Guantanamo Bay.
Organiser, Manus McGrogan said: "It was a long, strenuous walk but worth it. We think we've raised about £750.
"We chose Thomas Paine's house because of his connections with human rights."
Paine was an 18th Century political philosopher whose pamphlet The Rights Of Man is seen as the foundation of modern democracy.
He wrote: "Where the rights of man are equal, every man must, finally, see the necessity of protecting the rights of others, as the most effectual security for his own."
