Sainsbury's is planning to open its tenth store in Brighton and Hove.
The supermarket giant will take over the former site of popular independent grocer Taj on the corner of St James's Street and the Old Steine with a branch of Sainsbury's Local.
The news comes as a Sainsbury's Local store in North Street, Brighton, prepares to open its doors for the first time tomorrow.
The St James's Street shop became available when the Taj Group entered administration.
Sainsbury's has agreed a new lease with the administrator for the 3,000 sq ft site.
The store will open in the spring, creating up to 30 new jobs.
