Now the snow has disappeared in Brighton no doubt everyone will be itching to get out and explore. It’s the second weekend of Artists Open Houses Christmas Festival in the city, perfect for discovering the latest offerings from local artists.

82 houses across Brighton and Hove are opening their doors today and next weekend to display paintings, photography, sculpture, jewellery, crafts and so much more all produced by local artists. There are pockets of open houses all over the city from central Brighton and Hove to Fiveways, Bevendean, Portslade, Preston Park, Hove Park and Kemp Town. Exhibitions such as I Love Art, at 34 Washington Street, a collection of non-exclusive local artists, displayed in carefully curated spaces in a Hanover three storey home. Circus Kinetica: Embassy Court is a group of 2d and 3d artists & sculptors plus much more all based in one of the most awesome, if not controversial buildings in the city www.embassycourt.org.uk. In Kemptown, Bungaroosh Gallery at 25 Marine Square, ideal for nosey parkers who want a glimpse of a Regency property but also it’s a true Aladdin’s cave of activity including a professional make-up artist where you can drop in and get a make-over.

Artists Open Houses not only let you see some fine local talent for free but are definitely an ‘alternative’ Christmas shopping excursion to find unique, personal and timeless gifts for your loved ones.
