The children's playground at Hove Lagoon has improved greatly since this picture was taken half a century ago.
In 1956, there was little to amuse children apart from a sandpit and some swings.
The playground has been renovated several times since then and now boasts a paddling pool.
The area in the middle, surrounded by wooden fencing, was cordoned off because it contained a sewage vent.
Hove Lagoon itself was not much used in the Fifties but is now a flourishing centre for windsurfing.
