A ghost that does the dishes, exorcisms, witchcraft and the ghost of Cary Grant are among the many paranormal activities discussed by author Janet Cameron on Wednesday at Hove Library.

The retired creative writing lecturer will hold a reading of her scariest book to date, Paranormal Brighton and Hove: True Ghost Stories.

Cameron is no stranger to ghosts as she previously wrote Haunted Kent in 2005. She wrote the book because she said: “I fancied the idea.

“I found I enjoyed the combination of history and storytelling—a ghost book combines the two very well.”

The last time that Cameron was in Hove was more than three years ago because of a busy schedule and has written four books since then.

She said that the story-sharing evening at Hove Library will be fun and encourage debate.

She said: “I have been missing the buzz of activity. I used to enjoy working with people. So I hope this will be the first of many.”

The event with Cameron is open to the public and she will read a selection of spooky Brighton and Hove stories from her book.

There will be a chance for audience members to share their personal ghost encounters too.

Cameron said: “It’s always exciting for me when I find a new ghost and then discover the story behind it.”

There will also be a paranormal quiz with the chance to win a book.

The evening with Janet Cameron will be at Hove Library on Wednesday 27 October 2010 at 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start.
