Rock legend Sir Elton John will stage a second spectacular show in Sussex next summer.

The Rocket Man will touch down in Hove exactly five years after his last gig in the city.

He is believed to have enjoyed his last appearance in 2006 so much that he has agreed to return to the Sussex County Cricket Ground in Eaton Road, on June 26 as part of a national tour next year.

The Hove show is one of only three the global superstar will put on next summer with others in Shrewsbury and Northampton.

Tickets for the concert go on sale at 9am on Thursday (28th) at prices ranging from £40 to £80 with higher priced premium seat hospitality packages also available.

All 18,000 tickets for the 2006 show were snapped up at prices of up to £125 each almost as soon as they became available.

Dave Brooks, chief executive at Sussex County Cricket Club, said Sir Elton would the first artist to perform at the ground after it reopens in April 2011 following a £7million redevelopment.

Yesterday city council leader Mary Mears said: “This is great news for the thousands of Elton John fans in the city.

“They will have the chance to see one of the music industry's living legends playing live again.

“It shows that Brighton and Hove continues to be a destination that draws some of the best cultural events in the world.”
