Fifty intrepid cyclists set off for a gruelling bike ride on one of the hottest days of the year.
The team of volunteers are now making their way 150 miles from Brighton to Paris in the annual Argus Appeal Bike Ride.
Fund-raisers made sure they were armed with plenty of water before setting off yesterday and they intend to arrive in the French capital on Sunday. Last year's event raised more than £20,000 for the appeal and organisers are hoping to beat that this year.
Appeal co-ordinator Elsa Gillio said: "We are very grateful to all those who are taking part and we hope they enjoy their trip."
The bike ride coincides with the final of the Tour de France in Paris on Sunday.
