Pupils enjoyed a French theme at school as they wished chairman of the governors bon voyage.
Jeff White visited West Hove Infants' School with the bike he will pedal 150 miles from Brighton to Paris on. He is one of 50 cyclists taking part in the annual Argus Appeal bike ride which starts tomorrow.
This is the event's second year and organisers are hoping to raise more than last year's total of £20,000.
All proceeds will go to help good causes around Sussex.
A school spokeswoman said: "Children were allowed to make a donation and come in wearing anything in red, white and blue. There was also a party in the afternoon with a French theme."
