More than 200 young at heart people attended Knoll’s St Richards Church as the third annual H&K Steering Group's 50+ Event took place on Monday.
Most of these folk were in their golden years and came from the immediate area to attend the event. However some travelled from as far away as Southwick, Brighton and Shoreham.
Three ladies from the Hangleton area, June, Betty and Dorothy, all in their eighties said “we come every year; it’s enjoyable and nice to get out.” Dorothy added: “I haven’t been outside for two days but came out today because of the event.” All three attend weekly events organised by the Hangleton and Knoll Project.
Free beauty therapies, entertainment and information for older people were in abundance with a diverse range of stalls on the day. There were stands for foot rubs, trading standards and the local library as well as many others in the community centre hall.
The groups organised by the Hangleton and Knoll Project were not absent either with the communities ‘Crafty Adults’ group and the area’s historians, 'The Knollites’ among the many stalls there on the day.
Senior Community Development Worker Gemma Goodey said: “it is thanks to the sheer commitment and dedication of the 50+ Event Sub Committee that the day has been such an enjoyable and successful occasion.”
