Russian choirs and Chinese dragons took to the streets last Sunday as Hangleton celebrated the first anniversary of its multicultural women’s group.
Festival-goers enjoyed food from several continents and an array of activities including needlework, yoga, and holistic therapies .
Guests of honour were the Mayor and Mayoress of the city, who first visited a memorial on the Downs that honours those Asian soldiers who gave their lives in the wars.
Activities were aimed at increasing public awareness of diversity in the area.
Councillor David Smart called it: “a huge success”.
Thanks go to community workers from Hangleton and Knoll project, the families from the many nations who took part, and the organising committee.
