After a summer of running around seeing relatives here there and everywhere it was great to spend last weekend just chilling in Brighton.

As we have not been around much - it would have been rude not to spend the weekend how you should any summer weekend in Brighton; pub hopping and not letting the rain stop a long beach barbecue.

But what I really enjoyed was stopping by the Western Front and spending my Sunday watching FAB, the Folk And Blues festival. The festival went on from 11 in the morning and raising money for ‘Passing it on’ and the Heroes run.

We didn’t stay until the end and see the headliners but the first half was great. Keep an eye out for The Black Hats, a Brighton based band who not only won us over but their unique sound but their very charismatic front man also attracted many of the passers by who were shopping at Churchill Square. We caught up with them later and they are hoping to have more local gigs lines up soon, so I am keeing a keen eye on their MySpace!

My boyfriend is a huge fan of blues music and without his enthusiasm for a blues festival, this is one that I may have ended up missing which would have been a great shame. So I am using this as another wake up call to pop down and see the odd festivals I often see advertised, they are often free and /or help raise money for charity, you have a good time and can discover new talent.
