A husband whose wife has been missing for more than two years has spoken of his anger at being treated like a murder suspect.
Father-of-two Andrew Taggart, 46, believes the way he was treated after his wife Elaine disappeared in Brighton in January 2008 was “scandalous”.
He was arrested on suspicion of murder but has always protested his innocence.
He has since been released from any bail terms and the enquiry has not been reopened.
But Mr Taggart, of Ferringham Road, Ferring, near Worthing, says the terrifying experience will stay with him forever.
He said: "I was treated as a murder suspect by police - it was scandalous."
He has not given up hope of seeing his wife again and still lives in the family home.
He said: "I want her to know where to find us if she ever does come back."
Mr Taggart broke his silence as The Argus revealed there are 199 missing people across Sussex.
