The man jailed for the murder of prostitute Andrea Waddell is planning to fight his conviction - saying the jurors that convicted him were biased because he is Scottish.
Neil McMillan is currently serving life and will not be considered for parole for at least 22 years.
He was jailed following a four week trial at Lewes Crown Court earlier this year.
But the 42-year-old, of Bennett Road, Brighton, claims he was only found guilty because the jury was “anti-Scottish.”
Ms Waddell, 29, was strangled and her body set on fire at her home in Upper Lewes Road, Brighton in October last year.
It took the jury of seven women and five men five hours to convict McMillan.
Satellite TV installer McMillan said he felt that during the trial he was being seen as an outsider and was the victim of an “anti-Scottish witch-hunt”.
He said the finger had been pointed at him because he was not from the area.
McMillan admitted visiting Ms Waddell at her home for sex but claimed when he left she was alive and well.
