For thousands of travelling England fans a last ditch USA goal has meant a change in travel, ticketing and accommodation plans at the World Cup. Many banking on England topping group C would have secured accommodation in and around the Rustenburg area ahead of a round of 16 match on Saturday evening.
Everything was going nicely to plan last Wednesday after England had secured the all important win. However, in the other match USA scored an injury time winner sending them top of the group, bumping us to Bloemfontein on the Sunday afternoon against old rivals Germany.
For Bryan and I it was the same story. We had tickets for Rustenberg but not Bloemfontein. The realisation of the USA goal was horrible and a few expletives escaped my lips. However, football fans are an industrious breed and I am sure that things will work out well for most of the travelling support. After a breathless 12 hour period I can report that we have managed to secure tickets for the all important Germany match.
We are flying out to Johannesburg early on 25th June ahead of 8 action packed days.
