Members of the Hangleton and Knoll Festival Committee and volunteers from the local community took part in a sponsored ‘pyjama’ walk from the Downsman Pub in Hangleton to the Devils Dyke last Sunday, to raise funds towards this year's festival, which takes place from May 15 to June 13.
Most of the participants enthusiastically donned pyjamas, dressing gowns and even slippers for the event, and even the youngest participants (five-week-old Meghan aside), two-year-olds Shandon Shears and Finlay Gregory managed to do most of the walk unaided.
The walk was organised by 17-year-old Anastacia Shears, an active member of the festival committee, and was a great success. Anastacia told me “We were really happy with the turnout, particularly with volunteers from outside the committee taking part, and luckily we had a beautiful day for it.”
The walk has so far raised an estimated £90 towards the festival.
Details of all events will be going on the website shortly at www.haknollfest.org.uk.
