Sussex lost ten wickets in a session at Edgbaston yesterday but coach Mark Robinson still believes they can turn the tables against Warwickshire.

The county lost five wickets in 18 balls and later their last three for just four runs as they conceded a first innings deficit of 129. Warwickshire will start day three on 88-3, a lead of 217.

Robinson remains upbeat. He said: "Of course I could be proved wrong but I still think we can win.

"When we lost our other Championship game to Lancashire you could see it happening from a long way out but not this time.

"I've lost count of the number of times we have beaten the bat without getting an edge.

"We bowled well at them last night and if we do the same again today our luck has got to change."

Robinson was at a loss to explain Sussex's first innings demise.

He said: "There has been no lack of effort and what happened was just one of those crazy sessions which can happen now and again.

"There were one or two poor shots but they got the breaks which perhaps we didn't"

Wicketkeeper Matt Prior is rated no better than 50-50 to play in next week's crucial Championship encounter with Lancashire after suffering a hamstring strain on Thursday.

He will be able to bat in Sussex's second innings at No. 7 but his place behind the stumps has been taken by Andrew Hodd after Warwickshire agreed to the use of a substitute.
