It is apparent there is a lack of recreation and sporting facilities in Hove, as has been highlighted by the protest about the proposed allweather hockey centre at the school field in Old Shoreham Road.
The city should take the initiative and buy Toads Hole Valley for these purposes before this land is developed for commercial reasons.
In fact, why not build the all-weather hockey centre at Toads Hole? If it means an extra tax to purchase this land, I do not believe anyone in the city would object if it meant keeping this site as an open recreation site (even if a private club) for the benefit of Hove and the city.
With pressure on Braypool, this would be a welcome addition to our city's recreation facilities.
