Brunswick Developments has created an interesting and advanced development for Brighton Marina and my fellow local residents seem to struggle to see the benefit of it.
Notably, plenty of people living in the Regency buildings of Kemp Town seem most opposed. Perhaps they should remember the only reason their houses and flats exist at all is because they are near the Royal Pavilion, probably the most outrageous structure ever built in Sussex.
With this new development, Brighton Marina will be able to move away from its image of a great white elephant and finally achieve the plan envisaged for it so many years ago.
It is also worth noting that, by definition, marinas should be exclusive, up-market destinations.
The style and quality of the development would help put Brighton on the map of major marinas around the world.
It has been noted more than 300 people wrote to the council to object to the buildings. Are readers aware nearly 400 also wrote in support?
I have lived in the marina for seven years and seen many attempts to revive the project.
Finally, we have a great step towards a solution but some people still live in a fantasy world where enlightened development should be objected to on the basis that it may be a terrorist target.
Pull down Canary Wharf at once.
