Regarding the vicar who congratulated a girl pupil with a kiss on the cheek (The Argus, July 14).
If it was done in full view of teachers and pupils, how on earth could it be thought a sinister action.
Until this fairly recent climate of extreme political correctness, a handshake for a boy and a kiss on the cheek for a girl was normal behaviour. Because of the regrettable actions of some, this poor man has been punished and is being treated like a child molester.
It is shocking he is now banned from any contact with schools.
Children are now deprived of physical contact with most people in their lives, which is very sad.
They can receive no comforting hugs if they are hurt or unhappy, as teachers have to beware the risk of misunderstanding. Children have become untouchables, whether for discipline or affection.
