I was dismayed to read Heather James' self-congratulatory letter about the building of a skate park at Hove Lagoon (The Argus, July 18).

Does she really believe it is right to cover with concrete yet another piece of recreational grass, next door to a play area for small children and in front of a well-used cafe?

She is right about the pleasure the pool and play area have provided but she should also remember a lot of people get a lot of pleasure from sitting on the grass. What is not stated is the skateboarding will be completely unsupervised, to the danger of mums and young children.
