It's a rare day when a new musician grabs you body and soul and reminds you why music matters.
It's even more rare when that musician is only 19.
But Paolo Nutini is on the verge of greatness as a packed crowd at The Hanbury Ballroom on Friday night testified.
His album, These Streets, was only released on July 17 but the crowd knew every word.
There is not a bad song on it and it oozes passion, like the boy himself.
On stage the half Scottish, half Italian, Paisley teenager proved he has more passion to give in his live performances.
Songs Loving You and Million Faces are reminiscent of Lenny Kravitz and his voice has been likened to Joe Cocker with a Scottish accent.
His performance was raw and emotional and he was shy between songs, adding to his charm.
He sings with a powerful, seductive and mesmerising voice that blew the crowd away then lulled them back for more.
There are a number of reasons why this boy is now a favourite, not least because he willingly accompanied my party to the pub for a quick photo.
But the main reason is simply because his was a brilliant performance.
