Steps are being taken to reopen an undercliff walk that has been closed for five years.
A section of the Brighton Marina to Saltdean path closed in 2001 when part of the cliff behind Asda collapsed.
Brighton and Hove City Councillors will discuss reopening the walk at a meeting next Wednesday.
Gill Mitchell, city council environment committee chairman, said: "Repairs to the cliffs have been difficult and delicate as the area turned out to be a site of special interest.
"Mammoth, woolly rhino and hippo fossils have been found so works couldn't be carried out in the normal way. Extreme care had to be taken.
"Now it's finished and safety has been improved, I am delighted we are in a position to consider reopening the walk."
