I live in Southwick and, on a good day when the traffic lights are in my favour, it probably takes me about ten minutes to drive to Brighton.
However, since car park fees keep going up, I find myself shopping more and more in Worthing where there is a great selection of shops but, most of all, reasonably-priced car parking.
As a former shop trader in Brighton, I would be increasingly worried as to why Brighton and Hove City Council allows the car park prices to continue rising so dramatically.
It may not like cars in the city but it will have to wake up to reality because eventually Brighton will become a ghost town except to the few who will pay the exorbitant car parking prices and it will find retailers looking elsewhere to trade.
It's a fact of life you have to pay to park but greedy pricing puts off people who, like me, then go elsewhere.
