When Chi magazine published photographs of their dying mother, I am not surprised both Princes William and Harry feel like the magazine was "trampling on their mother's grave".
Both feeling very hurt, they have decided to break their silence over Princess Diana's death after being told by lawyers a new book, containing the pictures, could not be stopped from being sold in the United Kingdom.
I am delighted Prince Charles has given permission for the boys to speak out and express their deep sadness that such a low has been reached.
They would be failing her if they did not try to protect her from such pictures being published. The pictures accompanied a review of the book, which is due to be published later this month.
Chi's editor, Umberto Brindani, has underestimated the strength of offence he has caused.
Princess Diana was much loved in Britain and across the world. Clearly he did not realise this before publishing these deeply offensive and hurtful pictures.
