A cast of up to 100 dancers made a splash as they performed in Brighton's newest arts venue - the sea.
There were no props, no stage curtains and no balcony seats but one-off dance production Where The Land Meets The Sea drew an audience of hundreds to the beach as the sun went down on Saturday.
Created in collaboration with five choreographers and a cast of dancers of all ages and abilities, the show was co-produced by Brighton-based company Small Wonder, which specialises in performance events in unusual spaces.
It was part of the nationwide Big Dance event 2006, a week-long celebration of dance across the UK, and Celebrating Age, which focuses on the creativity and contribution of older people.
As darkness fell a spotlight lit up the performers as they splashed about in the shallow water.
Artistic director Charlie Morrissey had promised "a human version of the starlings that flock to the West Pier".
