A summer's evening, acres of idyllic parkland and a musician of masterly talents - what more could a girl need?
Jools Holland certainly knows how to boogiewoogie and within minutes of coming on stage had the thousands of fans in Petworth Park dancing to his tune.
As talented as Jools is - he also sings and plays guitar - he is backed by a multi-talented orchestra which he generously showcased during the evening, adding depth to the evening's entertainment.
I should confess I pooh-poohed advice about five-star picnics and even candelabras, being happy with my chicken legs and crisps. But I was wrong.
There was an acre of mouth-watering food, a fanfare of popping champagne corks and, as dusk came in, the lights of candles, lamps and yes, even the odd candelabra.
Great place, great evening, great music and I still have Jools on my mind.
