Councillor Pennington may be appalled by Brighton Animal Action's protest (Letters, July 5) but I believe we still live in a democracy.

The protest at the architects, Clifton Design Associates, was very peaceful and we actually called at the door to speak politely with them (no one was there).

We gave out leaflets to the public, informing them of the seal and otter enclosures, and they responded positively towards us.

The proposed development at the Sealife Centre has been opposed by many reputable organisations and scraped through at the planning meeting because planning law doesn't allow animal welfare to be taken into consideration.

I would maintain architects who design such enclosures have a moral responsibility to consider the work they take on.

This was the purpose of the short demonstration.

We didn't disrupt their day nor cause any criminal damage so what exactly is he complaining about?
