Worthing are in talks with a top non-league striker and will also look at two more trialists in tomorrow's friendly with AFC Hornchurch.
Manager Danny Bloor will not reveal the name of his forward target but insists it would be a real coup to attract him to the Gladwish Stadium.
He said: "We already have Sam Francis and if I get this player we would have two of the top strikers in the league."
The Rebels, who began their pre-season campaign with a 4-0 defeat to Albion last Saturday, have already signed midfielders John Robinson and Rudi Hall.
Goalkeepers Rikki Banks and Chris May both played against Mark McGhee's men along with fellow trialist Byron Harrison, a striker from Havant and Waterlooville.
Two more new faces, Crawley defender Sami El-Abd and Haywards Heath youngster Joe Wheeler, who has just returned from a short contract playing in the Finnish third division, will play against Hornchurch.
Former Crystal Palace goalkeeper Banks, who has spent this week on trial with League Two outfit Chester, will share the goalkeeping duties with May again tomorrow as Worthing look to sign a replacement for Chuck Martini, who was released at the end of last season.
Defender Stewart Holmes is the latest player to leave Worthing while talks are on-going with Stafford Browne, last season's top scorer who was not offered a new contract at the end of last season.
Worthing will kick off their Ryman premier division campaign at home to Margate on Saturday August 19.
The Rebels will face Sussex derbies against newly-promoted Horsham on Boxing Day at the Gladwish Stadium and on Monday April 9 at the Atspeed Stadium. The Hornets kick off their season at Staines Town with the first home game against Carshalton on Tuesday August 22.
In division one south, Horsham YMCA will make their Ryman bow at Cray Wanderers with their first home game against Sittingbourne three days later.
Burgess Hill begin at home to Dartford on Saturday August 19 while Hastings host Maidstone United on the same day.
