North Portslade Children's Centre is lovely. I was a guest at the recent opening.
The centre is a credit to this Government. It is simply stunning and a little girl by the name of Olivia called it a "wonderland". That's right, it is.
and child care; parenting groups; support for teenage parents, homeless parents and breastfeeding; help to stop smoking; help with getting a job; and exercise advice.
It is situated in The Rise and, as it is hidden from view, some people don't know about it.
As a Portslade campaigner, I feel strongly everyone should know about it, especially children from less well-off families, in order that as many people as possible are able to benefit from all it has to offer.
Our chances in life are determined by our childhood and, if you don't have much money, it makes becoming successful an uphill struggle.
Labour's Children's Centres aim to help halve child poverty by 2010 and end it by 2020 and this Government has already achieved a 370,000 drop in the number of children living in a workless household. If you live in North Portslade and have an under-five, go and take look around.
I hope to visit the centre again in the near future and look forward to meeting and listening to lots more children and their parents.
