Razorlight brought their golden touch to Brighton seafront last night.

On a sunny summer evening, the four-piece band's brand of guitar pop had the crowd of about 4,500 clapping and cheering throughout the 55-minute set.

The location of the gig was only revealed yesterday. It was attended by invited guests, competition winners and whoever else felt like going along.

Led by stick-thin frontman/guitarist Johnny Borrell, the band kicked off with their new single In The Morning from their second album, released on July 17.

Dressed all in white and wearing the obligatory sunglasses, Borrell dominated the stage throughout, jumping around and thrashing his guitar.

The band followed up with hits from their million-selling debut album Up All Night including Vice, Golden Touch and Rip It Up.

They also showcased numbers from their new album. In total they played 12 songs.

The band's catchy tunes were well suited to the sunny surroundings and they seemed to enjoy playing in the open-air.

The gig almost had the feel of a mini-festival and the setting, just east of the West Pier, made a great backdrop for an early-evening gig.

The concert was part of Vodafone's series of TBA gigs with shows being put on across the country. Snow Patrol, The Pussycat Dolls and The Zutons have played similar gigs.

The band left the stage at 6.50pm before returning for a two-song encore. They had been introduced by Zoe Ball.

Although the crowd weren't up all night, the band certainly ripped it up by the sea. Razorlight play the Brighton Centre on October 31.
