I am the organiser for Sompting Village Morris, whose picture you used to accompany the article "Many are living on the breadline in the countryside" (The Argus, June 29).
While the article highlighted some major concerns, I feel the caption could be read to imply morris dancing is part of your "theme park" notion.
Sompting Village Morris, like many local sides, has supported local charities and entertained locally for a considerable time. The tradition of morris has been around for hundreds of years and is not a new yuppie-style of entertainment.
Even Shakespeare refers to it as an "ancient tradition".
We also keep other traditional events alive locally, such as wassailing in Tarring on Twelfth Night and the Summer Solstice on top of Highdown.
The message you are trying to get across is important but you could had used a more positive picture to illustrate your article.
