Today, I buried a baby herring gull which had been killed on the road.
This bird will never experience the joy of swooping over the sea. Please can drivers be considerate and realise herring gulls, especially the young ones just learning to fly, are unable to move quickly out of the way of traffic.
I have so often observed selfish drivers passing at speed within inches of a confused or injured bird. The parents put great effort into rearing their young so is it too much to ask you to slow down or even attempt to remove a bird from the road?
