Free advice is being offered to businesses to help them become smoke free zones.
By summer 2007 smoking will be banned in all public places and Eastbourne Downs Primary Care Trust is helping companies to make the changeover as smoothly as possible.
Forty Eastbourne businesses have already taken up the offer of advice from the team and two restaurants have already become non-smoking.
Stop smoking adviser Lisa Gillette, said: "It is not all about preaching to people about giving up. It is about educating people about where they will be able to smoke come next year. We consult staff and talk to them about the legislation and we visit all types of businesses, from factories and nursing homes to pubs and council offices."
The team also gives advice to employees who are keen to kick the habit.
