As the original intention was to replace the King Alfred leisure centre with an up-to-date new facility, there are four options to sort out the mess:
1. Send the current "world class" architect packing.
2. Engage the Barcelona cathedral "ditto" architect.
3. Engage the Wobbly Bridge "ditto" architect.
4. Contact Crawley and negotiate a fee for the drawings and documentation for its Leisure and Sports facility and start work as soon as possible.
In the meantime, get schemes from local architects for a housing and services development to fit in the available space.
I would favour one and four.
