Murray Goodwin today backed Sussex to thrive on the big stage as they chase another piece of one-day glory.
The C&G Trophy finalists go to The Oval tomorrow aiming for a fourth Twenty20 Cup win in five games as supporters start to dream of a place in the knockout stages.
Goodwin's 67 not out eased his side to a nine-wicket success with 44 balls to spare over winless Middlesex at Richmond yesterday.
He admits the Sharks will relish an outing before an expected 15,000-plus crowd against the Surrey Brown Caps.
But he insists thoughts are not yet turning to a first-ever quarter-final appearance.
Goodwin said: "I will love going to The Oval. We like playing in front of big crowds in big games.
"But you never know what can happen. Everyone can beat everyone. We don't want to get ahead of ourselves. The plan (yesterday) was to go out and play hard.
"We had a bit of luck. Things went our way but we are playing good cricket and it's good fun."
Sussex are tied on three wins with Essex and Kent, both of whom have yet to visit Hove.
Surrey have lost two of their four games but Sussex cricket manager Mark Robinson insisted: "The key is to think about our own game.
"You keep an eye on the opposition but nine times out of ten if we get ourselves right, with the talent we have in our squad, we've got a very good chance of winning a game of cricket."
