A popular shopping street is remaining open despite repair works.
Traders in Church Street, in Brighton's North Laine, are worried that customers may think the whole road is closed because of mains replacement works by Southern Water.
There are signs on the roads approaching Church Street from Grand Parade warning drivers that it is closed and then informing them of a diversion.
But the road is still open for pedestrians and the shops are open for business as usual.
A Southern Water spokeswoman said: "The works will be going on for five more weeks and although alternative routes are signposted we are keen to let people know that all commercial premises are still open."
